Privacy policy

Your kitchen data is stored on your phone.

Who runs Kitchen First

Kitchen First is operated by Matteo Manzoni, an individual developer in the UK. For privacy questions, email kitchenfirst@proton.me.

Your app data

Kitchen First keeps your foods, food locations, foods marked to use soon, shopping list, saved recipes, meal plan, household size and preferences in local storage on your phone. There is no account or household sync service.

On a new installation, the public v1 app does not make network requests during normal use. Recipe website import is unavailable in v1. The app does not send your kitchen inventory, shopping list, receipt images or voice recordings to us. It has no advertising or analytics SDK, tracking, or developer-run data collection service.

Receipt photos and voice

Receipt scanning uses Apple’s document scanner and Vision text recognition on your phone. You can also choose a receipt photo. Review the suggested foods before adding them to Kitchen. The app does not save receipt images as part of your kitchen record or upload them for recognition. A photo you select remains wherever you already saved it.

Voice entry uses Apple’s on-device speech recognition. It requires on-device support and does not fall back to server speech recognition. Microphone and speech permission are requested when you start voice entry. Foods you confirm are saved locally; the app does not save raw audio as a recording.

Permissions and local data

You can manage camera, microphone, speech recognition and notification permissions in iOS Settings. Cooking timer alerts are scheduled locally.

You can remove foods and shopping items, and unsave recipes in the app. Local recovery checkpoints can retain earlier versions of records. Deleting the app removes its local app container. Your device’s backup settings may include app data in an iOS backup; Kitchen First does not implement its own cloud backup or sync service. Backups and copies you create elsewhere are separate.

Sharing and contacting support

If you share content, the service you choose handles it under its own privacy practices. If you email us, your message and email address are received through Proton Mail and used to respond to your enquiry. Please avoid sending payment details or unnecessary personal information.
