Kitchen FirstWhat to Cook

App support

A hand with your kitchen, meals or shopping.

Email kitchenfirst@proton.me with the screen you were using, what you expected and what happened. Include your iPhone model, iOS version and app version if available. Send a screenshot only if it helps, and remove receipt payment or personal details first. Do not send passwords or payment details.

How do I add foods?

Open Kitchen and search for a food, then tap Add. You can also speak a list or scan a receipt or choose a receipt photo. Review and correct the suggested foods before adding them.

Voice needs microphone and speech permission and on-device speech recognition support. If voice is unavailable, use search instead.

How do I remove items?

In Kitchen, tap a food and choose Remove from Kitchen. Choose Ran out to also add it to Shopping, except for salt, black pepper and water. In Shopping, swipe left on an item and tap Remove.

How does the meal plan work?

Open This week on Home to see your calendar and planned meals. From a recipe, add it to your meal plan and choose a date and breakfast, lunch or dinner. Use Any day if you have not picked a date. You can move or remove a planned meal and add its missing ingredients to Shopping.

At the shop, mark items as in the basket, then use Put away to add them to Kitchen. Review your Kitchen after the transfer.

How do I find and save meals?

Add foods to Kitchen, then open Home or Recipes to see what you can cook. Mark foods you want to use soon in Kitchen. Check missing ingredients before cooking. Find recipes you save in Saved from Recipes. Importing recipes from websites is unavailable in v1.

Why did I miss a timer alert?

Start a timer from a cooking step that offers one. Allow notifications in iOS Settings, and check your notification and Focus settings if you miss an alert.

Where are language and measurement settings?

Open Settings from Home to choose UK or US food names and metric or US measurements.

How do I reset the app?

Delete Kitchen First from your iPhone, then reinstall it. Choose Delete App, rather than Offload App, to remove its local data. This removes your local kitchen, shopping list, saved recipes, meal plan and preferences. There is no Kitchen First account or sync service to restore them.

Do not reinstall as a first troubleshooting step. Contact support first if you want to keep your data. Device backups and copies you made elsewhere are separate.
